Balloon Fiesta

This event needs a post all its own. This is an event that everyone should do at least once in their lives. Five hundred hot air balloons this year. The event attracts some 400,000 people through the gates over a ten day period. It is by far the largest gathering of its kind in the world.

We were here in 2007. We did the full 10 days as part of the Alpenlite 5th wheel trailer owners group. This year we came on our own, not knowing that the group had folded when the builders of Alpenlites went bust in 08. A great surprise for us when we pulled into the camping area, almost the size of a Bermuda parish, & found a group of Alpenlites all lined up together on the front line with the best views of the balloons as they come over from the launch field. This year we were there for 6 launchings. Perfect weather each morning.

    love all pictures have not ever told you but we have all you have sent since alaska.
    when you returned from your last trip on I40 @ Statesville you were only about 1&1/2 hours south of us.We have been thinking of a returing to Alaska again. any way hope you have a merry christmas and happy new year
